A total of 1,774,470 new cancer cases and 646,950 deaths from cancer are projected to occur in North America. Though rates have been declining because of increased research, education and better treatments there is still a long way to go before this disease is eradicated.
Research holds the promise of better ways to diagnose and treat the disease. McGill University's Goodman Cancer Research Centre is a world-renowned institute that supports researchers, graduate students, post-docs and fellows devoted to a broad spectrum of fundamental and clinical research.
As a way to raise awareness and funding for cancer research, some of the top scientists, lab techs and students have made an innovative music video and posted it to youtube. It's not often you see some of the world's top scientists dancing and singing to Taio Cruz's Dynamite.
The video has been sponsored by Medicom, a company that makes the gloves used by the scientists and which are prominently displayed in the video. McGill officials say that Medicom plans to make a donation to the centre based on the number of clicks the video receives. So click on the video link below to help raise money for cancer research!
